In Eskonpuisto park, located in Rautaharkko, Tampere, Wild Zone is experimenting with transforming a disused playing field into a sun-exposed dry meadow. The surface of the area was coarsened so that the vegetation would get a better start. We sowed the area with, for example, Echium vulgare, Artemisia campestris, Trifolium arvense, and Centaurea scabiosa seeds. The middle part of the area used to be a volleyball field, and on its sandy seedbed we sowed Viscaria vulgaris and Oxytropis campestris subsp. sordida seeds. The plants sown are all local strains, and their wild population origins are traceable. We are implementing the Eskonpuisto park dry meadow in cooperation with the City of Tampere.
