Wild Zone has taken part in the sun-exposed dry meadow habitat management at Jämi airstrip since 2021. We have propagated the endangered sand pink, Dianthus arenarius subsp. borussicus, by growing seedlings and planting them. Collecting endangered plants or their seeds, or moving them, requires a permit from environmental authorities. The ELY centre has provided us a permit to grow and plant sand pinks within the Jämi area. In 2022, we planted over 500 seedlings, and in 2023 about 800. We are carrying out the project in cooperation with Metsähallitus Metsätalous Oy.
