Wild Zone established two living roofs on the sheds of the Mustametsä daycare centre in Nekala, Tampere. Nearby, there have been sightings of the critically endangered Anacampsis fuscella moth species which are protected under law and use Trifolium medium as their nutrition. We sowed Trifolium medium and other meadow plant seeds on the roofs. The living roofs strengthen the Trifolium medium and sun-exposed dry meadow network of the surrounding area. We manage the living roofs by weeding and complementing the Trifolium medium plants with new ones. The plants sown are all local and regional strains, and their wild population origins are traceable. The living roofs have been implemented in cooperation with Tampereen Tilapalvelut Oy.
