Landscaping the Oulunsalo gravel pit

We have been landscaping the gravel pit owned by Rudus Oy in Oulunsalo, Oulu, since 2020. We devised a way to landscape the area by utilizing ecological succession and the growth of nature. Since the area is quite large and there was a limited number of local native plant seeds and seedlings available, we sowed and planted in places where the plants had the best preconditions of spreading. We have planted and sown, for example, local large pinks (Dianthus superbus) and Tartarian catchflies (Silene tatarica) on the site.
