Tampere classical upper secondary school meadow

Wild Zone established a school meadow in the centre of Tampere, on the premises of the classical upper secondary school, together with the students in 2023. The students had weeded out 170 square metres of sand and gravel on the edges of the premises before the sowings. On the gravel, the students sowed the seeds of Lathyrus sylvestris, Lotus corniculatus, and Campanula glomerata. On the sand, they planted some Hylotelephium telephium seedlings, and sowed some Centaurea scabiosa, Viscaria vulgaris, and Turritis glabra seeds, among others. Wild Zone members counseled the students on how to gather seeds and sow them. The students gathered the seeds they sowed on the meadow themselves. The plants sown are local strains, and their wild population origins are traceable. The school meadow is being implemented in cooperation with the teachers and students of the classical upper secondary school and the City of Tampere.
