In 2021, Tesoma in Tampere got a new railway stop. Wild Zone established meadows on the sideslopes of the railway stop and the neighbouring Ristimäenpuisto park. We sowed these native species on the meadows: blueweed (Echium vulgare), great mullein (Verbascum thapsus), yellow chamomile (Cota tinctoria), field wormwood (Artemisia campestris), greater knapweed (Centaurea scabiosa), clammy campion (Viscaria vulgaris), and bladder campion (Silene vulgaris). These plants grow in the railroad track areas in Tampere. The plants sown are primarily local or regional strains, and their original wild location is traceable. The seedbed is composed of gravel. On a hard bed, vegetation develops slowly, but steadily. The meadows don't require much maintenance. We are developing the railway meadows in cooperation with the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and the City of Tampere.
